About Production Decision Aid

Part of our job at the American Farm Bureau Federation is to monitor conditions in agricultural markets and try to anticipate some of the challenges that Farm Bureau members may face. A major challenge this year is a projected increase in production costs, putting a squeeze on farm profitability.

To help Farm Bureau members prepare for this downturn in the farm economy, AFBF launched this Production Decision Aid (FB-PDA) Web site, which brings together in one place a number of planning tools by region or commodity, and links to whole-farm planning aids.

The site identifies region specific farm budgets for wheat, rice, corn, sorghum, cattle, hogs, poultry, dairy and fruit and vegetable operations. Comparing your production costs with these sample budgets should help indentify potential cost savings.
